DMI to Participate in Major Census Forum

The 2010 Census isn't just about creating Census worker jobs. Federal money and business investment in cities and counties around the country is at stake. But some Senators have tried - and failed - to exclude immigrants from the the count. Our research has made clear that a full Census count matters for all Americans.

Director of research Amy Traub will help explain the stakes at a Census forum Tuesday, December 15 at Hunter College. The forum, moderated by Demos senior program director Steven Carbo, will explain why citizens should care about whether non-citizens get counted.

The panel takes place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, in the Hunter College Faculty Dining Room at 695 Park Avenue. Join DMI and representatives from the U.S. Census Bureau, the New York Immigration Coalition, the New York City Department of City Planning, and the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights for "Counting Us Out? Why Everyone Should Care About the Census Undercount." Registration is recommended.
