No We’re Not

From the New York Times, in reference to the stimulus package:
"Liberals are pushing for even more money devoted to social programs, alternative-energy development and road, bridge and school construction."
Let's give that another try: Liberal are pushing for money devoted to social programs, alternative-energy development, road and bridge maintenance, school construction, energy efficiency improvements in government buildings, and expansion of the country's transit systems.
I wonder if there are any openings in the editorial department of the Times.

Great point, John. I'm amazed at how this moment of true possibility -- this "new and hopeful beginning" Obama praised -- is really looking a lot like all the other big spending bills we've ever seen. Tons of money for new suburban roads and business tax breaks...and precious few for projects that would make a huge difference in the lives of everyday Americans, now and generations in the future.
If you've got a minute, check out Angela Glover Blackwell's piece on this on EquityBlog. (http://www.equityblog.org/2009/01/08/will-obamas-recovery-package-help-everyone/).
