Mark Winston Griffith’s New Year’s Resolutions
It's time to shake things up a bit. Here are my promises for the next 360 days or so:
1. Write more comprehensively about Community Economic Development
There is a dearth of writing that examines community economic development issues through a progressive lens. While financial services are a part of what develops (and underdevelops) neighborhoods, there are many other dimensions to community economic life that need to be explored.
2. Be More Solution Oriented
Bitch, bitch, bitch. That's all I seem to do on this blog. While I'll never stop uncovering injustice, I'll also spend some time highlighting positive community economic justice models and alternatives.
3. Write more for the Gotham Gazette
You wouldn't know it, but I'm a community development topic page writer for the Gotham Gazette. It's time for me to show and prove!
4. Take on the Community Reinvestment Act
The old lady is going to be 30 years old this year. Look for a series of musings on how to create a corporate accountability and community reinvestment framework that is more 21st century ready.
5. Give props to NEDAP
I've been at the Neighborhood Economic Development Advocacy Project for a year now. It's a great organization and I need to consistently share its good works with the world.
6. Come out of the closet: I'm a DeeJay
No more hiding my skills! I can rock a party 'til the early light: R&B, hip hop, dance classics, salsa, reggae, dancehall, etc.. From house parties to social justice throwdowns, I'm guaranteed to get the booties on the floor.
