Red America?
Ben Domenech is a communist, or maybe just a socialist. And the Washington Post's publishers are cowards. Those are the two big take-aways from today's launch of Red America, the newest political blog from the Post. Domenech, who seems earnest, actually proclaims at the top of his first post: "This is a blog for the majority of Americans." Well excuse me, I'm not as plugged in as a WaPo columnist, but I'm guessing that even if you combine the voting registries of the Socialist Workers and American Communist Parties, you wouldn't even come within a tenth of the numbers in either of the two major parties. Just a guess. I skipped quickly to the kicker on Domenech's post and he proclaims: "Red America's citizens are the political majority. They're here to stay. It's time to start paying attention to what they believe and why." Well, I do respect my socialist and communist comrades - we all should - and many of their ideas may well have some merit and deserve public debate. But I think it's a gross overstatement to claim they're the political majority - I mean, there's not even a socialist in the California state house, for heck's sake! Jeesh. Oh, and that cowardly publishers thing? For such a "controversial" blog (it seems to have been written about extensively on all the big political blogs today) it's shocking they don't accept comments...that ain't red, it's yellow.

Ben resigned. We won this one. Bloggers organized and lobbied the WaPo to get rid of the new blogger because he was guilty of plagerizm (and general hackery) and we won. yeay.
